There was the hotel and a big shopping center. The shopping center was really crowded, but we never found out where all these people live. They came by care, obviously. #nl Otherwise there is NOTHING but huge unbuilt fields, vast as the whole Île de la Cité. #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04885.JPG #alt Senart #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04886.JPG #rot3 #alt Senart #size 500 #/photo #p But the people were very nice, and they have a big wind power station: #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04851.JPG #alt Wind Power Station at Senart #size 500 #nogps #/photo #p That's me at the conference, proudly presenting my poster #nl (NORMALLY I would say it is below my level to present only a POSTER, but for us it was important to adress this SCENE, and Paris is Paris, and I haven't been there for about twenty years, which really is a shame!) #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04853.JPG #alt ML with his poster #size 500 #nogps #/photo // =============================================================== #h1 #title First half day, from Gare du Nord to Île de la Cité // =================================================================== #p Saturday, short after the conference ended, I accompanied some colleagues which had to depart immeadiately. We first brought their suitcases to Gare Du Nord, and then walked down to Notre Dame. #photo #psource 0/mixed/P1000254.JPG #alt Saint Vincent de Paul #size 500 #copyright IAM #/photo #photo #psource 0/mixed/P1000251.JPG #alt Saint Vincent de Paul #size 500 #copyright IAM #/photo #p #p Notre dame itself is totally crowded and you have to queue over an hour go get into. But in the surroundings nearly every building is a marvel, so we didn't concentrate but leisurely floated through this symphony of flower-like stone. #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04859.JPG #alt La tour Saint-Jacques #size 500 #nogps #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04862.JPG #alt Palais de Justice #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04863.JPG #alt Palais de Justice #size 500 #/photo #p There are even some private lodging houses. I think the sculptures at the Arc de Triomphe itself have a rather obvious homosexual sub-text: #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04888.JPG #alt Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #rot3 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04895.JPG #alt Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #rot3 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04891.JPG #alt Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #rot3 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04892.JPG #alt Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #/photo #p On these classicistic monuments, even NAPOLEAON himself always has a baby face, looking not older than twenty-five, isn't it ? #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04893.JPG #alt Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #rot3 #/photo #p Luckily, at the horizon, La Defence, sends out an air of enliving coolness: #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04887.JPG #alt La Defense #size 500 #nogps #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04897.JPG #alt Tunnel under Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04898.JPG #alt Tunnel under Arc de Triomphe #size 500 #/photo #p After tunneling the Place d'Etoile, I started my exploration of west-end, towards Bois de Boulogne. #p I chose the Avenue Foch, just by INSTINCT! Later it turned out that this is indeed the "Avenu du Bois" which is oftenly mentioned in "A la recherche #ldots". We really ARE in Proust's world! #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04901.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04899.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04902.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04903.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04904.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04907.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04908.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04909.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04910.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04911.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #/photo #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04912.JPG #alt Avenue Foch #size 500 #rot3 #/photo #p It ends again in military spirit: This is one of the Marshals of France, and he really looks like: #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04914.JPG #alt Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny #size 500 #/photo #p This is what he sees: #photo #psource 0/bilder20111101/DSC04915.JPG #alt Avenue Foch towards Etoile #size 500 #/photo // =============================================================== #h1 #title Au Bois De Boulogne // =================================================================== #p Then I entered the famous Bois de Boulogne, looking forward to see all the famous murderers, cools drug dealers and sweet hustlers.But it was nearly empty!
