Beiträge zur Musiktheorie- und -philosophie
(/ Contributions to Theory and Philosophy of Music)

  1. Grundsätzliche Anmerkungen zu meinen Klavierstücken
  2. Anmerkungen zu meinen Orchesterwerken (also zu op. 14 ff)
  3. Einleitende Worte zu "Künftiger Mai" op. 19 --- (die Sonderausgabe Nr. 1 meiner kleinen Zeitschrift "senza tempo")
  4. eine Analyse meiner ersten (op. 3)
  5. und meiner zweiten (op. 11) Klaviersonate.

English translation starts here

Regrettably, nearly all of my texts on musical issues currently only exist in German language !-(
Most of them are collected in the periodical "senza tempo".

With the 15th of December 2010, this periodical has returned to live, now as on on-line magazine.

There is a detailed table of contents at the start of that website. (We hope it will grow constantly !-)

Also the older print articles can be found there. For those, at least the titles shall be translated here 1

  1. Issue No. 1, about the c-sharp-minor fugue of the first volume of the Wohltemperierte Clavier.
  2. Issue No. 2 and Issue No. 3, on the reflection of the "Holy Trinity" in music, esp. in some triple fugues.
  3. Issue no 4 on the grouping and structuring of an oeuvre, esp. on Gustav Mahler's symphonies.
  4. Issue no 5 on "Numbers and Music", and on numeric phaenomena in the fist 10 bars of the Kunst der Fuge.
  5. Issue no 6 is a larger monograph on the Christmas Oratory by J.S. Bach (It is still only half-finished, --- if anyone wants to sponsor ?-)
  6. Special Issue no 2 on the Ruhrwerkby Wolfgang Hufschmid
  7. Special Issue no 3 on the "ex machina Mediennacht", a small festival held in 1999 at the Folkwanghochschule. Essen.

There are also texts on music theory and aesthetic issues outside this periodical (some of them even in English !-)
The corpora of most of these texts, and the bibliographic data of all of them you'll find in the list of published texts.

Only a few are about my own compositions:

  1. Fundamental remarks on the sound of my compostions for pianoforte
  2. Remarks about my orchestral works
  3. Introductory Words to "Künftiger Mai" op. 19 (This is a special issue of the "senza tempo" periodical).
  4. an analysis of my first (op. 3)
  5. and of my second (op. 11) piano sonata..
  6. These last two, together with the mongraphy on the AUDIAC project Komposition als Disposition von Datentransformation und Sprachdesign contain an exhaustive discussion on the meta-theory, i.e. on the fundaments of my thinking in musical analysis.
  7. Recently there also exist a preface to my operas
  8. and a preface to my concert for harpsichord "imtakt" op.5

In Seattle I met a bus driver in public transport who answered my questions in GERMAN because he had learned it ONLY for underständing the Wagner operas! I wouldn't say you should go THAT far just for reading my papers, but anyhow ...
