Because my new number of life years is PRIME, I decided to make a birthday party.
There were eleven guests and me (lucky there wasn't one more !-) We met at the S-Bahn station of Friedrichshagen, at 11 a.m.

Then we went to the Museumspark Rüdersdorf by street car.
Most of the guests did not really know what was coming up, my standard answer was "Simply trust me ...!" --- and it worked !-)
The tram is a private founding from the begin of the last century,
called
Schöneicher-Rüdersdorfer Straßenbahn
(There is a wikipedia entry
in the German language,
but not in English, so could please some volunteer translate ?)
And there is a private site
Tram 88 / Waldstraßenbahn .
By chance we got one of the old, refurbished "TATRA" type cars, and the trip was very romantic!
It lasts less than thirty minutes, crossing the nice village of Schöneiche. Finally we reached the Museumspark Rüdersdorf, (see also wikipedia (German language only !-( )
This is the narrow road, on which nowadays the TOURISTS approach (the industrial access, still in work, is a little bit different, but at the other side of the area, 8 kilometers away !-)

The park consists of two parts: One historic, you can explore on your own, and the active chalk pit, the largest chalk mine in Europe. Of course there you're not allowed to stroll around on your own, but you can take a guided Landrover tour.
First we visited the chalk burning ovens from the 18th century, waiting for the Landrover tour to start.
Here some impressions:

The following pictures have been taken on the tour. We were NOT PERMITTED to leave the car, it is much too dangerous. (Does'nt look like, does it?) So the quality of the photos is limited ...

A three million Euro excavator, 2500 horse powers, driven by a woman. (with joysticks !-) It is only for breaking the stone out of the wall, not for transportation.

Looking back to the historic part, you see the old tunnel mouths. The tunnels were filled with water, leading to the canals formerly used for transportation.

It is hart to get the dimensions, look e.g. ta the stairs leading up the
mixing station, down there in the middle. The whole pit goes DOWN 110 meters,
and sixty meters below sea level.
And please notice the yellow flower.

That is the driller which prepares the wholes for the explosion. The explosives are not secured specially: they take plain chemical fertilizer you get in every garden shop !-)

At the VERY BOTTOM there is a trout farm!! (In the GDR the industrial complexes had to produce SOMETHING for the consumer market. This is the origin of this farm!)

Back to civilisation, allowed to move again, we had a light lunch (no meat, no alcohol !-), but salad and yoghurt and fruit:

On the way to the next architectural high-lights:

The first of these attractions looks like a gothic castle, but indeed is only a "Seilscheibenpfeiler". This nice German word means "Pillar carrying a rope wheel". This is part of the 18th/early 19th century transportation infrastructure, pulling whole railway carriages up out of the pit:

The next is a deflexion station for the cable car, which was the next generation of transportation:

The young guy was always the first to climb up, the older ones had a rest below. (NOT the camera man!-)

The absolute high-light is the "oven battery", sixteen to twenty-four chalk ovens in two rows (the construction was widely modified during the years). When approaching, you see not really much of it, but the EFFECT a few steps further is overwhelming:

This is the old chemistry factory. They made fertilizer out of chalk. Now they take movies there, like "Stalingrad". NO JOKE !-)
