The conference itself was in "SENART", which is half an hours
suburb train from Paris, and in the middle of NOWHERE.
There was the hotel and a big shopping center.
The shopping center was really crowded, but we never found out
where all these people live. They came by care, obviously.
Otherwise there is NOTHING but huge unbuilt fields,
vast as the whole Île de la Cité.

But the people were very nice, and they have a big wind power station:

That's me at the conference, proudly presenting my poster
(NORMALLY I would say it is below my level to present only
a POSTER, but for us it was important to adress this SCENE, and
Paris is Paris, and I haven't been there for about twenty years,
which really is a shame!)

Saturday, short after the conference ended, I accompanied some colleagues which had to depart immeadiately. We first brought their suitcases to Gare Du Nord, and then walked down to Notre Dame.

Notre dame itself is totally crowded and you have to queue over an hour go get into. But in the surroundings nearly every building is a marvel, so we didn't concentrate but leisurely floated through this symphony of flower-like stone.

Next day was my only real holiday, and I started at Arc de Triomphe, exploring "west end". I think the sculptures at the Arc de Triomphe itself have a rather obvious homosexual sub-text:

After tunneling the Place d'Etoile, I started my exploration of west-end, towards Bois de Boulogne.
I chose the Avenue Foch, just by INSTINCT! Later it turned out that this is indeed the "Avenu du Bois" which is oftenly mentioned in "A la recherche ...". We really ARE in Proust's world!

Walking southward I came to a vast open place. If I remember right, then here once stood a palais, which is now destroyed and the site is rather deserted.

The new color of La Tour in daylight is something like
"liquid mud"; or worse.
But at night, when lit electrically, it is wonderfu! Like
glowing gold!

I would have liked to take a last photo from farer away, but then my accu was finished !-(
That was the day when I had to leave myself. I had the morning until three p.m. to walk into the EAST parts and visit the Père LaChaise. (Les tombeaux de CHOPIN and PROUST; NOT that of Morrison!)
But I had forgotten my camera with the luggage in the locker!
I think this was a GOOD IDEA!!
